How to Get From Maribor (Slovenia) to Graz (Austria) by Train
We loved our 3 days in Maribor, a city we hadn’t heard of until a few days before we visited. It’s a great city and well worth a visit.
All good things must come to an end though. We decided to head further north and got a train to Graz.
Maribor Train Station
Maribor train station is clean and modern, just how train stations should be.
There is a large ticket hall and this is where we bought our tickets.
Our tickets cost a very reasonable 9 EUR each. We were told we could use them for any train during the day.
We opted to get the 10:19 train that was due to arrive at 11:23, a journey of 1 hour 4 minutes.
Our Train
The train between Maribor and Graz had modern and comfortable carriages and the ride was very smooth.
Seats can be reserved but we had had a whole compartment to ourselves even though we didn’t reserve any seats. There were electrical sockets in the compartment but no wifi.
The train was 16 minutes late leaving Maribor and a few minutes late arriving in Graz.
Graz Central Train Station
Graz station is modern and what you’d expect of a train station. We got an Uber taxi to our centrally located Airbnb apartment. It cost 10.30 EUR for a distance of around 2 km. The cost would be about 2 EUR back in Bangkok. Much of Europe is very expensive.
