How to Get From Split to Supetar by Ferry

Every time we visit Split, we also take a few trips to the nearby islands. Today, we went to Supetar which is a 50-minute ferry ride away. The ferries that run between Split and Supetar and run my Jadrolinja.

Their ferries and modern and comfortable. The are large enough to accommodate lorries, vans, cars, motorbikes and foot passengers.

The ticket office is next to pier 20, which is just a little further than the train and bus stations.

When we arrived at the ticket office just before 11.00 on a Sunday, it was completely empty. If you come during the high season, I’d suggest arriving much earlier than your ferry departure time. It’s also quite possible that the next ferry could be fully booked, especially if you’re traveling with a vehicle.

Ticket prices vary depending on whether you’re a foot passenger or have a vehicle. Tickets or also cheaper during low season. March is low season, so our tickets cost 4.25 EUR each. That’s very reasonable for a 50-minute crossing.

I was surprised how empty the ferry was. I guess it was around 10-20 of capacity. It was around 80% full on the return journey.

The ferry has a small bar that serves alcoholic drinks, soft drinks, hot drinks and a few snacks. The prices can only be described as a rip-off. An Americano coffee was 4 EUR, which is the most I’ve paid for on anywhere in Croatia. Never again.

We usually sit on the upper deck, as that’s where you need to be to get the best views.

When the ferry leaves Split, the view of the old town is pretty awesome.

During low season, there are 9 ferries a day from Monday to Friday and 7 ferries on weekends. There are 12 ferries a day during mid-season and 14 ferries a day during high season. The Croatia Ferries sites has a full list of times and ticket prices.

Our ferry arrived in Supetar at 11:50 and we got the 15:30 ferry back to Split. If it’s your first time in Supetar, I’d suggest staying long than we did. You might want to spend a few days on the island and also visit other places like the beach at Bol.

We’ve been many times, so a 3.5 hour visit was perfect for us.
