Mak Airbnb in Mostar
For our second visit to Mostar, we chose to stay in the town center and found a great Airbnb apartment on the main street above Mercator supermarket.
You can’t get a more perfect location than this. A few minutes walk in one direction takes your to Stari Most, while walking in the opposite direction takes you to the main area where there are lots of cafes.
The apartment is around 45-50 sqm, so a good size for a couple. The living room had a large sofa and two armchairs.
There was an open-plan kitchen that looked fairly new and there was also a window that had views looking toward the mountains.
The kitchen was well-equipped, although there weren’t any basics that you might need to cook like condiments, oil, etc. I wish all Airbnb apartments would include these basics, as there’s no point buying them if you’re only staying for a couple of days.
There was a nice balcony off the living room with views over the surrounding houses. We could also see Biscevic House from the balcony. Biscevic House is an old Ottoman house that’s now a museum with a courtyard, showcasing furnishings such as rugs, silver & ceramics.
The bedroom had a double bed, but it was a little uncomfortable due to ill-fitting sheets and a soft mattress. The windows had shutters, so it was great to have a completely dark room at night.
The bathroom was small but functional. The shower was very powerful and there was plenty of hot water.
There was a washing machine in the bathroom, but not washing liquid was provided. If a washing machine is available, there should always be some washing liquid available. It’s a waste of money to buy a whole bottle of washing liquid if you’re only planning to use the machine once or twice.
The host told us that she could bring anything that we needed. We asked for some washing liquid and she brought it for us. But I don’t think this is something that we should be asking for. It should be provided.
Wifi
The wifi was fast and worked very well during our stay.
The Location
This was perhaps the best thing about the apartment. It was on the main street, so you’re able to walk to all the main attractions. Having a supermarket downstairs from the apartment is also very useful.
It’s less than a kilometer from both Mostar East bus station and the train station, so it’s an easy and pleasant walk to get to the apartment.
