Palach Club Street Art, Rijeka
Palach Club was founded in 1968 by the Rijeka Student Organization. It was named after Jan Palach, a student at Charles University in Prague.
In protest at the ending of the Prague Spring uprising, he committed suicide by self-immolation. His memory lives on in Rijeka.
The area around the club is an area of alternative culture, art, and local organizations. The area is known for its street art and graffiti.
Here, I’ll show a small selection of the street art, as there is simple too much of it to include.
Palach Club is to the right of the image above.
Outside the club is a plague dedicated to Jan Palach, mentioned above.
There is also a memorial to Lemmy of Motorhead.
Most of these buildings seem to be used by local organizations. There are also some apartments as well.
There seem to be some apartments in this building.
We stayed in a great Airbnb Apartment on the 4th floor of this building. Palach Club is just to the left.
I would suggest you visit Rijeka and spend at least a few days here. There is so much to do and see. We stayed for 8 days.
