Rijeka Airbnb Near Palach Club
There wasn’t a great choice of Airbnb apartments near the center of Rijeka but we managed to find one near Palach Club. The club is a café by day and club by night. It’s know for it’s alternative culture and has been at the same location since 1966.
The location was perfect for us, as it’s only around 300 meters from the bus station and in the center of the city.
It was a large, newly renovated apartment on the 4th floor of a beautiful building. There wasn’t a lift, but walking up stairs is great exercise.
The Living Room
The living room was small but not too small. It was a cosy space and fantastic for a single person or a couple. The sofa could be converted to a bed so would be ideal for kids or extra guests. As you can see above, it had a skylight, but there was also light coming in from the entrance to the living room.
The Kitchen
The above image shows a view of the kitchen from the hallway where you enter the apartment. The living room is to the left at the end of the kitchen. The bedroom is the next door along, and the bathroom is straight ahead.
The image above shows the kitchen from the other side, standing next to the living room. The kitchen is well-equipped and has full-size, built-in fridge/freezer, dishwasher, numerous pots and pans, and all the dishes and cutlery you could possibly need. Dishwasher tablets were supplied.
There was also tea, coffee, sugar, and few other food items.
The kitchen had a breakfast bar next to the windows that looked out onto the inner part of the building. It was also a great place to sit and do some work. There are windows all along that side of the apartment, so it has lots of light. It has shutters, so you can close those at night if you prefer.
The Bedroom
The bedroom had a very comfortable bed and some built-in cupboards at the end that consisted of shelves an dan area to hang clothes, including clothes hangers.
The Bathroom
The bathroom was perfect. The shower was powerful and there was plenty of hot water. There was a washing machine which we used. Washing powder was supplied.
Entrance Hallway
When you enter the hallway, there is a cupboard to your left that has an ironing board (the iron is in the living room cupboard). There is also a separate section that can be used as a wardrobe. There’s a table and two chairs which can be used for dining. There was an extra chair in the cupboard and one in the bedroom. These could be used if 4 people wanted to eat together.
The View
The view from the windows looked towards the inner parts of the building. As the apartment was on the top floor, there was plenty of light.
The Wifi
The wifi was fast, as can be seen from the image above. The speed test showed a download speed of 121 Mbps and an upload speed of 63 Mbps. Perfect.
The Location
The apartment is on the 4th floor of the above building. Palach Club is just around the corner. There was no noise at all from he club. In fact, the apartment was one of the most peaceful we’ve stayed at during our 4 months of traveling around Europe.
This building in in the city center, so everything is easy to get to by foot. Entry is via lockbox. The host always replies quickly and is very helpful.
We had a fantastic stay and would definitely come back again. We wanted to extend our stay beyond the original 4 days we’d book, but unfortunately it wasn’t available.

Rijeka is my kind of town. It’s a bit grittier and more urban than places like Dubrovnik, Split, Sibenik and Zadar. I’d say it’s more like a smaller version of Zagreb. I loved it.
Rijeka is often overlooked by most visitors to Croatia, but it’s well worth adding to your itinerary.
