Split – a City of Cats
We love cats and always carry some cat food around to feed any stray cats we see. If you also love cats, you’ll love spotting all the cats around Split.
Take a look at the below. She’s sitting on a seat outside a café in the the center of the old town. She looks like she’s waiting to be served.
As well as seeing cats al around the city, there are a few places where large numbers of cats gather. The locals feed them every day and have even provided them with makeshift boxes. I’m sure the cats appreciate these boxes, especially in winter.
You can see ten cats in the image above, but there are more than live in this location. Some are very friendly, while others seem very wary of people. We had three favorites.
Above you can see some of the boxes that locals have made for the cats. In another location we saw specially made wooden boxes with the names of the cats painted on them. Yes, many of these cats have names.
All the cats we saw were fully grown, apart from this one cute kitten that we saw near the green market.
When we went for a walk up Marjan Hill, we spotted this cat watching us.
