Super Mario Airbnb Apartment in Split

After spending a total of around 4 weeks in Mostar, we took the bus to Split. We decided to stay there for a few days before heading up the coast to Sibenik and Zadar.

We chose to stay at an Airbnb apartment a few minutes north of the old town. We’ve visited Split numerous times, so wanted to be a little further away from the tourist hordes. We also wanted to be closer to our favorite vegan and vegetarian restaurant, Upcafe.

We booked the Super Mario Apartment. I have no idea if the name has anything to do with the video game, but it seems a strange name for an apartment.

The apartment is only around 25 sqm, but it’s been renovated to make the most of the space.

We prefer to have a separate bedroom, but Split is getting quite expensive these days, so we decided to save some money by booking a smaller place.

The main room has an enclosed balcony and sofa at the end and a comfortable double bed next to it. It was great for the few days that we were there.

Balconies are usually wasted spaces, especially when the weather isn’t great. Having an enclosed balcony meant that we had extra space in the apartment. It was also a great place to have coffee and breakfast.

The balcony windows have shutters, so you can sleep in a dark room when they are down.

The kitchen was at the other end of the apartment, so was quite separate from the living and bedroom area. It had everything we needed, including, kettle, toaster, coffee maker, pots and pans, and dishes. There was also a built-in fridge.

There was a table and two chairs in the kitchen, but we tended to use the balcony table instead.

The bathroom was small but functionable. As you can see above, there was also a washing machine. There was a large cupboard outside the apartment door that had an iron and ironing board and other items that were shared with the apartment next door, which has the same owner.

The shower was large and worked perfectly. Water pressure was great.

The balcony looks out over a popular local cafe.

The entrance to the building is set back from the main road, so is pretty quiet.

We’ve been traveling around Europe for over 3 months so far and this is the fastest wifi we’ve had at any Airbnb apartment. Download speed was over 160 Mbps and upload speed was over 18 Mbps. It was more than enough for our needs.
